Typhoon Tracy Stakes Race Information

The Don Casboult Classic (previously called the Typhoon Tracy Stakes) is a 1200 metre set weights and penalties race for three-year-old fillies run by the Moonee Valley Racing Club Club in February. It is held at Moonee Valley as the main event of the night meeting.

The race was first run as a Listed race over 1200m in 2011 when it was won by Miss Gai Flyer. It was upgraded to the current Group 3 status in 2014. It has originally held under lights on a Friday night as the main event of the meeting in February making it one of the very few Group races run under lights. In 2023 it was moved to the All Star Mile meeting on Saturday.

The horse Typhoon Tracy
She was a top class mare trained by Peter Moody who was named 2009–2010 Australian Racehorse of the Year. In the 2009-10 season she won the Myer Classic, CF Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes and Queen Of The Turf. Sadly she died while giving birth to her first, and obviously only, foal in 2012 at Vinery Stud in NSW’s Hunter Valley.
